In addition to teaching and performing, Dr. Lee-Clark remains active by attending music conferences and giving presentations. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Dr. Lee-Clark provided weekly "Remote Learning Piano Instruction" videos on YouTube. The initial five videos elucidated the techniques for practicing piano without the instrument and were subsequently aired on WQAD Channel 8 News. The discourse "Piano Teaching Experience During the COVID-19 Pandemic: How to Practice without a Piano," which incorporated these instructional videos, was presented at the World Piano Conference in Serbia and the Illinois Music Teachers Association 2020 Conference. Dr. Lee-Clark’s lecturers are not limited to academic venues; she has presented at religious conferences, churches, libraries, art galleries, nursing homes, and for middle and high school students.
Dr. Lee-Clark is a Doctor of Musical Arts graduate in piano performance at West Virginia University. She received her Master of Music degree from the University of Southern California and her Bachelor of Music from Kangnam University in Korea. She studied piano with Christine Kefferstan, Steven Harlos, Gabriel Chodos, Nancy Bricard, Sung-ja Kim, and Kyoung-sook Kim; organ with Hye-yong Kim, William Haller, and Huw Lewis; and harpsichord with Greg Crowell.
Solee Lee-clark, piano
Pianist Solee Lee-Clark, a native of Seoul, South Korea, has studied piano in her native country, the United States and Paris, France. Currently, Dr. Lee-Clark teaches piano, organ, and music theory at Monmouth College. In addition, she teaches piano at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp during the summer. Her previous teaching appointments have included West Virginia Wesleyan College, Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia, and Muskegon Community College in Michigan.
Dr. Lee-Clark is an active performer both as a soloist and collaborative artist. She was invited to perform at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, in May 2014 as a soloist. She has received awards from the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, the French Piano International Grant, and the Global Education Opportunities Award. As an accomplished collaborative artist, she appeared in concerts at the Third Coast Trombone Retreat, White Lake Chamber Music Festival, International Trumpet Seminar at Grand Valley State University, Tulip Time Festival, Blodgette Recital Series at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.
